Nice bag, poor construction Review by Maura

Nice bag with lots of pockets and compartments to keep you organized. Construction could be sturdier, though. I have had this in use for 8 months. The tethered key clip is ripping away from where it is attached to the interior of the bag. The clip is no longer usable and has left a hole on the inside of the bag. One mesh expansion pocket at the side of the bag ripped within the first month of use. (Posted on 1/31/2017)

I purchased 4 of these bags for my family. We traveled to Italy and it was just perfect. We had all our documents, water bottles, maps, keys, suntan lotions, etc and had room to spare.I also had my Canon DSLR and it fit wonderfully. We went in and out of the bag with no problems. Would definitely recommend. (Posted on 9/28/2016)
Perfect everyday purse or day bag for Walt Disney World Review by Heather

I bought this bag for a trip to Walt Disney World. I didn't want a backpack stuck to my back in the July heat and I wanted to be able to carry two water bottles. This bag fit my usual touring items (camera, charger, wallet, spare shorts, map, etc) and was perfect to sling cross body. It worked out so well that I have been using it since last July and it still looks new. it doesn't sag when you set it down, has some nice theft deterrents. (Posted on 2/20/2016)

Lots of positives & a few negatives:
I love this bag and it really come in handy in my current around the world trip. I have used it as a purse and a day pack throughout Scotland, Morocco and Italy (so far) for almost three months. I use the rounded front zip to carry my pens, phone cables/plugs, tissues, hand sanitizer, etc. The large back zip on the outside stores my make up/toiletries in a separate pouch; this is great in case of leakage. The RFID pocket inside, holds my credit card, passport, cash, etc. In the center bucket section, I've had everything from my journal, my large Sony Experia phone, toilet paper in a ziplock bag, a foldable grocery bag, granola bars, a thin scarf, etc. The zippered water bottle pouches are great. I usually have a water bottle on one side and have used the other for a deck of cards, wet socks, etc.
Negatives: the purse light on the cord is flimsy and broke within weeks. Also, the lanyard the light was on was hard to find because it was too smooth against the seams so I rarely used it. The lanyard kept getting stuck on my stuff from inserting and removing items, and has ripped the inner seam where it attaches to the purse (the blue lining has detached from the black lining). This is very annoying because it might happen again even if I sew or glue it. The credit card pockets are useless, a small zippered change purse would be much more useful. Early on in my travels I learned that my credit cards/IDs would snag on my stuff and fall out of my purse when rushing to pull items out. The lobster claw on the outside that keeps the bucket section sealed is too small and I often fumble around for it.
Overall, the bag is very sturdy on the outside, is wipeable and has doubled as a pillow on long trains rides. It is definitely a large purse and can carry everything I need for my day trips. (Posted on 2/7/2016)

This bag is my first Travelon product and I love it. The main, front, and back pockets are nice and deep. There are also several smaller pockets to help keep things organized. Even when I carry all of my things the handbag remains nice and light which is not something I can say about the leather bags I usually purchase. The only draw back on this bag is that it is supposed to be a crossbody bag but the strap seems a bit short for a crossbody. I am just under 5 feet 4 inches and when it is worn as a cross body, the purse is even with my hip. Most crossbodies go below the hip. A taller person would probably only want it as a shoulder bag, but it is so light weight that it is no big deal to have it on your shoulder. I love everything else about this bag. I want one in cranberry but haven't decided on this one or one of the other crossbody models. If Travelon did come out with this hangbag with a longer stap I would post another review and give it the 5th star. (Posted on 1/14/2016)

I took this bag to Italy and then Mexico without having to worry that someone would slice it or steal it. It holds a hat, a camera, light jacket, a phone, and so much more. The two end pockets held a bottle of water and a small umbrella. I cannot think of a more useful travel bag/purse! (Posted on 11/10/2015)

I am more than satisfied with this bag. I enjoy the fact that I can choose cross-body or over-the-shoulder. I use the security lanyard on the strap to hang the bag from shopping carts, strollers, restaurant chairs, etc. With many compartments I easily use this bag as my "Mom-Bag" meaning purse and extra clothes for my younger ones. Plenty of room for everything yet it holds its shape well and does not look sloppy. I enjoy the extra safety features especially while on road trips to large cities and flying. the water bottle/umbrella compartments come in very handy. I have used this bag daily for around 3 months and it looks new. The seams are holding well and there is no wear and tear showing. Easy to wipe clean. Mostly water proof (in that I have not had my items get wet while in out in the rain, but I do not know whether it would keep my items dry if I set it in a puddle). Overall--Excellent purchase. I read the reviews on this bag and decided it was the best one for our trip to Turkey and Greece. When it came I took one look and thought I'd made a big mistake. No way it would hold my camera, lenses, and my wallet and purse paraphernalia. Before sending it back I gave it a try and to my amazement it was perfect. It held by 4/3 digital DLR, two lenses, including a telephoto, my wallet, my purse stuff, a tour book, and more. Additionally, there was plenty of room for a bottle of water in the external pocket. I couldn't believe it. I love it! The quality is excellent; after some hard use it still looks like new. I can't recommend this bag enough. (Posted on 8/17/2015)

I was looking for a new travel bag. What I was using was not secure, and was a bottomless pit, impossible to find anything in it. I was admiring this one, carried by a fellow traveler. It was a gift, so she didn't know where it was bought, but I got the name off a zipper and googled it. I ended up buying it from another vendor for a lower price (black only), but I think it's fully worth the full price. It's perfect. I bought it as a travel bag, but I'm sure I'll be using it as my regular bag. I haven't had it long enough to know how long it will last, but it appears well-made and sturdy. The tiny flashlight is a great little addition. You've thought of everything! Almost. Two small suggestions. A place for a pen or two. And a lobster-claw inside to attach keys. Now that I have a secure bag, I know I'll be tempted to put all my valuable things in it, but that still wouldn't be wise. I think theft from absentmindedly leaving it unattended or open momentarily is probably more likely than someone trying to cut the straps or the bag. No security features can protect me from my own stupidity! But it's a great bag. (Posted on 6/8/2015)

I purchased this bag for travel to New Orleans and Boston where we would be doing a lot of walking in big crowds. I usually end up with larger bags to pack all possible items. This bag is a perfect size, not too big and I could fit my large wallet, umbrella, tablet, fold up raincoat (5x7 inches by 2inches thick), extra tissues, iPhone and camera including chargers and camera case, and sunglasses. Love the RFID slots for passport, etc. the strap is so well designed and stays flat with a slideable loop. The curved section zippers can be secured with the hook easily along with the top zip. I had no problems getting into a section I needed quickly. The othe side straight zip does not secure but that is where I kept tissues and gum so no problem. I actually like the net zip inside as I can see what is in there and I did not have any problems with it catching on anything as others noted. The side zip pockets are perfect for water bottles or sunglasses or small umbrellas. Love the key hook with light, but inside color is light so I rarely need the light. I have a lot of other bags, but this has become my everyday bag for now!!! (Posted on 5/29/2015)
A wonderful, roomy bag! Couldn't be happier! Review by Europe or bust

I bought this bag about 8 months ago prior to a trip to Europe. Knowing we'd be traveling to Paris and Prague, both of which are notorious for their pick-pockets, I wanted a secure, roomy yet stylish bag. I couldn't have been happier with it! It was roomy enough to hold my Nikon D40 DSLR camera, my small video camera, my journal, maps, iPod, passport, makeup, and a water bottle and umbrella on the sides. I put my makeup and mints in the pocket with the single non-locking zipper. In the open pocket I put the maps, Kleenex, pen, etc. On the inside locking zipper compartment I put the most important documents/money. And for the other side pocket with two zippers--yet non locking--I just bought an S-clip to lock it, just for peace of mind in those major cities. The strap I found to be completely comfortable on my shoulder--even weighed down with all that stuff! It was a wonderful 3-week vacation across Europe and it's been 7 months now and guess what...... I'm STILL using this bag! It brings peace of mind traveling to other U.S. cities as well. I love it! Definitely worth every penny! Thank you, Travelon! (Posted on 1/19/2015)
Nice bag, could use improvement Review by mr2k

I just purchased this bag. While I think the design is very well thought out and I love the idea of RFID proof pockets and slash proof panels, the design could use a couple of improvements. As another reviewer noted, the front zipper pocket does not have locking features. Manufacturer response states that this is for "quick grab items." Well, some "quick grab items" can be very valuable - car keys, boarding passes and other travel paperwork, even a passport should be temporarily in an easy access location in a travel bag ( you can stuff it back in the RFID proof inner pocket when you have cleared the long line of people at check-in and security). An easy way to secure the outer pocket would be to attach a lobster claw to one of the zipper pulls. Might be easier to open than the main pocket, but still constitutes an additional obstacle to a pickpocket that might induce him to rob the person next to you who has absolutely nothing on the zipper pulls of her bag! The anti-theft classic crossbody bag has this feature of a locking outside pocket, why not this bucket bag?
Another serious concern I have is that the slash proof feature only extends HALFWAY up the body of the bag. I confirmed this with a customer rep on the phone. I am at a loss as to why anyone would do this. Since you are already taking the trouble to insert a slash proof panel, why stop halfway up the bag?!? I was told on the phone that bag slashers usually go for the bottom of the bag. and that is why there is no protection in the upper half of the bag. I can assure you that thieves slash bags in ANY location that proves easy. Many years ago, one of my bags got slashed at the TOP near the zipper. A house guest who stayed with our family similarly had her bag slashed in the upper third of the bag. Please take these comments into consideration if/when you release a re-design of this bag. It's already a good bag - you can make it better! (Posted on 1/22/2014)

I often carry a few books, a datebook, & a fat wallet, along with some personal items, in my bag. A load like that tends to cause a bag to feel heavy (go figure). However, this bag feels well-balanced & is easy to carry. It is very well-constructed.
I am happy that I am able to carry my firearm in the crest-shape pocket; I use a small travel combination lock through the eyes of the zipper pulls any time I do not have my bag on my body. (Posted on 12/19/2013)

Just received this bag today. I was skeptical as to the size, but it is what I hoped it would be--not too big and not too small. Glad I chose this for the size. Great storage space inside for a light jacket, scarf, hair brush, etc, with good variety of outside pockets. It is not overly huge but I believe roomier than the messenger cross body. Love the water bottle holders, too! Lightweight and it fits very comfortably across my shoulder and very adaptable and adjustable to my short height (5'2"), although it could go much longer if needed for a taller person. Seems like it will be very natural to use and ergonomically designed for organization. It also is quite stylish for a specialized bag. Going to use it for everyday and give it a good test. Zippers and fasteners work great, easy to open/close/lock. Peace of mind with keeping my valuables safe! Cannot wait to use it! (Posted on 11/5/2013)

I actually bought this bag from another vendor but I wanted to say that I love it especially after reading the previous review. I love the fact that the bag has structure. Some nylon bags will "puddle" which you set them down but this bag doesn't. And it's nice and roomy and has lots of pockets for organization. In addition, I really like that you can put a water bottle in the side pockets. Just a wonderful bag! (Posted on 10/12/2013)

Travelon Anti-Theft Cross-Body Bucket Bag (Misc.)
Recently purchased this bag through Amazon and it is very disappointing in its overall construction. The end of the top zipper is not sewn into the body of the bag. It is sticking out about 2" which allows some pickpocket to pull on it and rip the zipper right off the bag! The lobster claw for this zipper is quite small and awkward/difficult to use. Also, the zipper handles (on the front oval pocket) have holes to attach to a lobster claw for security; but there is no lobster claw! I do like the side pockets for umbrella or water bottle usage. I will be returning the bag and possibly purchasing a different vendor's product. (Posted on 8/31/2013)
