underseat bag Review by MsReadaway

I am tired of bringing my carryon wheeled suitcase on to the plane and, consequently, waiting forever to get off with everyone else who has too much luggage on the plane. I needed a sightly larger bag than my cross body camera bag/purse so I could carry a change of clothes just in case the checked bag did not arrive immediately. I just received this Travelon bag. I am very happy with it. I'm not a backpack kind of girl, but decided this was the way to go to also be happier carrying my DSLR all day when necessary. The style of the bag is a little more up scale than most back packs. I won't feel like I'm camping. The quality of the bag is better than I expected and the shoulder straps are comfortable and adjustable. This bag has the exact allowed measurements of the British Airways allowed underseat bag/personal item, so I will have the option of carrying my suitcase on and using this bag...so can make last minute decisions depending on the flight...and I just about always fly BA internationally. I did a trial pack and it fit everything I could not easily replace on my trips if my checked bag was delayed; i.e., electronics and chargers, DSLR with 15-85 mm lens in separate bag, a complete change of clothes (except shoes), meds, paperwork, financial documents, iPod, camera, 3-1-1 bag (for comfort), journal, pens, noise canceling headphones, etc. It is full but not tightly full. I could add snacks, etc. I use a very small cross body bag to hold one CC, money, ID info and passport while I'm in transit. I'm not sure if I would move this to the backpack when out for a day, but due to the antitheft attributes, I might on occasion. But if I do, there is room to bury it in the tablet holder, way down low against my back, just in case the bag is accessed by pickpockets...they are professionals, I hear. I would not put any financial data in the front zipped pocket as I think someone talented might be able to unhook the zipper, but I will use that for my journal, pens, keys, and such less important items. I understand there is no point to RFID protection, but it is hard to buy a bag without it these days. So pre-trip, I'm happy with this choice. It seems just about perfect...as there will never be a perfect bag. (Posted on 6/1/2017)
Unobtrusive antitheft backpack Review by Worldtravelgal

Comfortable, subtle backpack that doesn't draw attention to its antitheft features. The only downside to the design is the opening being smaller than the width of the bag (sometimes hard to get items that just fit inside) and I really wish the front zipper was double – what happens is when you want to leave the pocket open to take something out but then to put it back in quickly you have to unzip the entire U-shaped zipper and that in effect leaves the flap hanging open with all the cards dangling. Classic in every way Review by Gayle

This was my 2nd anti-theft bag purchase.

BACKGROUND: In 2009 I bought a previous version of the PacSafe CitySafe 100 crossbody for a trip to Europe. I was a huge fan based on the security features, bright colored lining, water-resistant fabric, and organizational pockets, etc. It was an obvious choice to take it again to Europe in 2011. Due to the bag's small nature, it had only one, easy to use, zipper latch connected to the strap with a "snap hook" (basically a D-clip with a tiny lever).

NOW: Heading back to Europe in 2017 I wanted to change to a small backpack option and immediately went shopping on PacSafe, but ended up comparing 5 different backpacks between PacSafe & Travelon. FYI I ended up choosing this one - the #42310 Classic Backpack from Travelon in Lush Blue.

BAG PROS:
- Navy external color
- Water-resistant fabric
- Light color interior lining fabric
- External pockets - 1 open (for water bottle or umbrella) 1 zip with additional internal mesh (for sunglasses, etc.)
- Organizational pockets in front area, including RFID slots
- Easy access to both zippers
- All pulls are also D-clips, making it convenient to attach to other pulls or the security loops
- Lightweight
- Easily adjustable straps (unlike other reviews - I'm 5'7" slender female)
- Tiny bonus flashlight & surprising zip pocket in the top/large section flap

BAG CONS:
- Slightly larger than what I wanted [Ideal would have been 14x10x4" (or 5)]
- No "Strap latch" to attach to a chair or other grounded item
- No zip pocket in front area (for cash)
- Light gray internal lining fabric is somewhat boring
- Concerned about "thin" D-clip latch on pulls

This was the 1st of the 5 bags ordered that I received. Initially I didn't like this bag due to the size and particularly hassling with securing the pulls. However, after comparing to the other 4, this was the obvious winner primarily due to the fabrics & D-CLIP PULLS! (I'll try to remember to post an update after my travel.) (Posted on 3/11/2017)

This was great to take with me on my trip to Europe. You've got to be careful in Europe with pick pocketing but nothing was pinched from this bag! (Posted on 8/25/2016)
Great for teenaged daughter's trip to Europe Review by Chris

We wanted to buy an anti-theft backpack for our teenage daughter who's not that savvy yet about pickpockets. She was going on a school trip to Europe and we wanted her to be able to carry an umbrella (side pocket), water bottle (water bottle pocket), cash and emergency credit card (RFID section) plus have room for band-aids, ibuprofen, study materials and souvenirs. She also used it as her carry-on for the plane rides and came back so happy with the bag that she's declared that she's going to use it as her carry-on from now on for domestic trips as well. I don't understand the comment from "PK" who said the straps are not adjustable - maybe he had an older version? . My daughter's bag has straps that can be adjusted about 15" from tightest to loosest. Having said that, this bag looks a little small to be used by a large man. (Posted on 5/7/2016)

Please keep producing this bag! Great size, sturdy unobtrusive protection, love the Stone color (much cooler for the contents in summer!). I have no problems with the straps at all. Very comfortable and slightly dressy for urban travel. Thanks so much!! (Posted on 2/12/2016)

i bought the older version of this bag in 2011 before all bags had tablet holders. I love the smaller size as I am 5'3" and carry it on planes, the tube in London (5 trips) a beer tour on a small bus in Germany, a cabrio in Switzerland etc. I LOVE this bag! I have been putting my ipad, camera, eye mask, headphones, ipod, iphone, noise canceling headphones, an umbrella, water bottle, snacks, my airborne and small makeup bag on planes for years. I travel alone a lot and having the antitheft features makes me feel a little better as I navigate my way around the world. i think it's time for a new one even though the fabric is still in perfect condition, only to have the rfi and tablet new features. @beergolfgirl on instagram and twitter (Posted on 11/24/2015)

i also have problems with the straps. I am a six foot two man and I cannot wear this at all and I am looking to have the straps altered so that I can wear it as I really like the concept of the product. I have another Travelon shoulder bag which is fabulous. (Posted on 5/23/2015)

This is a great medium sized backpack. It has a place for everything, especially for my water bottle and umbrella, and I'm well organized for short trips. No problem adjusting the straps. Very happy with my purchase. (Posted on 2/8/2015)

I wanted an anti-theft backpack for travel and I do own other travel on bags but this back pack does not live up to travel 0n standards. The straps on the back pack can not be adjusted at all. One size must fit all. The locks are hard to open and close. The locks seem to be a lesser quality than the ones I have on other bags. My straps may have been sewn incorrectly. (Posted on 1/7/2014)
